The Night Log, a journal of nights at anchor

Updated 3 November 2026

The Night Log is the journal of Gammara's honeymoon site: dated entries about nights at anchor, the light on Kalong and Padar, and the practical questions couples ask. Each entry says what it is based on. The newest entry comes first.

The Night Log: purpose and promise

The Night Log is a plain journal. It records what we learn about nights at anchor, the light at each stop, the moon, the season and the small decisions that make a honeymoon on a boat easier. It is a log of nights spent at anchor, and nothing more.

Our promise is short. Every entry is dated, and every entry says what it rests on: the printed brochure, a published regulation, a figure from this site, or our own notes. Where a fact is not printed, the entry says so. We publish no invented guest stories and no review of a boat that has not been reviewed.

We set no calendar for new entries. Some weeks bring two, and some months bring none. When something changes that a couple would want to know, such as a rate, a rule or a date, it goes in the log the same day.

Newest entry first

Newest first, so the entry you need is the one at the top. Older entries stay, with their dates, because a note about the moon or a park rule is only as good as the day it was written. We mark a changed fact as changed and leave the old note readable.

If you want to know what was true on a given date, the date is on the page. That is the whole point of a log: it keeps the nights as they were, and it lets a couple compare what we wrote in one season with what we write in the next.

Questions raised by an entry are welcome on WhatsApp. A good question can become the next entry.
