Gammara Phinisi
Six cabins for three generations, and the sums split plainly
Updated 3 November 2026
A Komodo family trip on a private phinisi suits up to 12 guests on Gammara Phinisi, 2 to a cabin. Six relatives pay IDR 73,000,000 (≈ USD 4,479) for 3D2N, or IDR 12,170,000 (≈ USD 747) each, and seven to twelve pay IDR 78,000,000 (≈ USD 4,785). Children aged 2 and under travel free.
Three generations, six cabins, a dozen berths
Gammara has 6 cabins and 12 berths, and each cabin holds 2 guests. There is no extra bed in the brochure, so a family of four takes two cabins, and a family of ten fills five. Beds are a king or a double, one to a cabin; twin beds are not listed. Three in one cabin is not offered. A grandparent and a grandchild who want their own sleep need a cabin each.
On a private charter the cabins are all yours, so the family decides which pair takes which cabin. What follows is what the family will not have to share.
- The boat: no other guests sleep aboard.
- The dining lounge, with large windows, for every meal.
- The social deck and the paddle board.
- The tender that takes you to the beaches.
| Cabin | Rooms | Beds | Sleeps |
|---|---|---|---|
| Master Cabin Jasmine | 1 | 1 king bed | 2 |
| Suite Cabin Lily | 1 | 1 king bed | 2 |
| Deluxe Cabins Ivy, Azalea, Hazel and Iris | 4 | 1 double bed | 8 |
| Berths in total | 6 | 12 |
Stairs, decks and sleeping order for older relatives
The cabins are on two decks. Jasmine and Lily are upstairs, each with a king bed. The four Deluxe cabins are below, each with a double bed. All six have a private bathroom with a hot and cold shower, and air conditioning. The Deluxe cabins have no sea view stated.
Stairs lead between decks. The brochure prints no step count, so we print none. Tell us who finds stairs hard, and we suggest the sleeping order before you pay.
A sensible order puts the relatives who rise early, or walk slowly, where they can reach the dining lounge without crowding the others. That is advice, not a rule. You know your family, and we only know the boat.
A softer 3D2N for slower legs and short attention
Day 1 begins with a meeting at 09:00 to 09:30 and boarding at Labuan Bajo harbour between 10:00 and 11:00. Kelor comes first: a hill of 15 to 30 minutes, short and steep. Then a snorkel at Manjarite, in water that is easy for beginners with a life jacket. The day ends at Kalong, where the bats are watched from the boat and nobody needs to land.
Day 2 holds the hard parts. Padar means leaving the boat about 65 minutes before sunrise and climbing for 25 to 45 minutes on loose, steep ground. Ask us to plan it so that part of the family stays aboard, and the captain confirms on the day. Komodo Island follows with a ranger; short, medium and long trails exist, and the shorter ones suit small legs.
Day 3 is Kanawa, a shallow reef with white sand, and the harbour at about 12:00. Book flights after 15:00.

Times are operating patterns, not a timetable. Pickup is the only promise we make by the clock.
What each child pays, and the cabin they use
Children aged 2 and under travel free, and from age 3 a child pays the full fare. On a whole-boat charter that has one plain effect: a child from 3 counts as a guest, so the seventh guest of any age moves the party into the higher band. For a child of 2 or younger we confirm in writing how they count and how they sleep.
Brochure lists do not include a cot, a child seat or an extra bed, so ask us how a toddler sleeps before you plan around one. A child uses one of the six cabins, shared with a parent or a sibling.
Seats on the open trip start at IDR 7,100,000 (≈ USD 436) per person, with two sharing a cabin. For a family it is the narrower choice, because other guests share the boat and the cabins are sold in pairs.
Life jackets, hill climbs and the captain's last word
Life jackets are on board, and so is snorkel gear. Sizes for small children are not printed; ask us. Kelor is short and steep. Padar needs shoes with grip. Komodo and Rinca are walked only with a park ranger, and children stay close to the adults on the path.
The captain has the last word on weather. If the sea is wrong for Manta Point or a landing, the stop moves or is dropped, and the family loses nothing but the plan. Travel insurance is recommended for everyone. Passport or ID details are due seven days before sailing.
Dragons are wild animals and a sighting is never guaranteed, however many walks you join. Tell children that early.
Dividing the vessel price across six or twelve
Six relatives pay the 1 to 6 band: IDR 73,000,000 (≈ USD 4,479) for 3D2N, which is IDR 12,170,000 (≈ USD 747) each. A seventh guest moves the family to the 7 to 12 band at IDR 78,000,000 (≈ USD 4,785). Twelve share that at IDR 6,500,000 (≈ USD 399) each, the lowest figure per head the boat can reach.
The number includes every cabin and every meal, and it excludes park tickets, which we quote as a package with your trip, along with a guide, documentation, drinks, flights and hotels. Twelve guests is the ceiling; a bigger family needs a second boat.
We cannot print a separate child price for a whole-boat charter beyond the rule above. Checked on 3 November 2026.

FAQ
How old does a child have to be before the fare applies?
Children aged 2 and under travel free. From age 3 a child pays the full fare and counts as a guest toward the 6 or 12 ceiling. Each cabin holds 2 guests, with no extra bed listed, so tell us your children's ages when you write, and we confirm the sleeping plan in writing.
Where do grandparents sleep, and are there stairs?
Jasmine and Lily, the king cabins, are on the upper deck. The four Deluxe cabins, with double beds, are on the lower deck. Stairs connect the decks, and the brochure prints no step count. Tell us who finds stairs hard, and we suggest the cabins before you pay.
Can a family of four book the whole boat?
Four guests fall inside the 1 to 6 band, so the price is IDR 73,000,000 (≈ USD 4,479) for 3D2N, or IDR 18,250,000 (≈ USD 1,120) each. A family of four takes two cabins, and the other four stay empty. Park tickets, a guide and documentation are outside the price.
