Gammara Phinisi
Harbour to harbour in three days, with the sky timed beside the stops
Updated 3 November 2026
The three day Komodo private boat route on Gammara Phinisi runs Labuan Bajo to Labuan Bajo in 3D2N: Kelor and the Kalong sunset on day 1, Padar sunrise and Komodo Island on day 2, Kanawa and the harbour at about 12:00 on day 3. Whole boat: IDR 73,000,000 (≈ USD 4,479).
Harbour to harbour in 3D2N: route, hours and stops at a glance
Labuan Bajo at both ends. Three days and two nights, all of it inside Komodo National Park, with no leg to Lombok. The brochure prints the route as an example, and traffic, weather and tides are allowed to reshuffle the stops.
Day 1: meet at 09:00 to 09:30 at Komodo Airport or your hotel; sail between 10:00 and 11:00; Kelor Island, Manjarite, then sunset at Kalong. Day 2: Padar at sunrise, Pink Beach, Komodo Island, Taka Makassar and Manta Point. Day 3: Kanawa, and the harbour at about 12:00.
Both nights you lie at anchor, wherever the captain judges best on the day. On a private charter the meeting time is fixed with your date, and it can shift to suit a flight.

These stops swap order with tide and wind: Manta Point ⇄ Taka Makassar.
Times are operating patterns, not a timetable. Pickup is the only promise we make by the clock.
Day one afternoon: Kelor's hill, Manjarite's reef, Kalong's bats
Somewhere between 10:00 and 11:00 the lines come off. Kelor Island, about an hour out, is the first stop: a short, steep climb of 15 to 30 minutes to a viewpoint over the bay. Shoes with grip, a hat, water.
Manjarite follows, a reef for the first snorkel of the trip. After that the boat makes for Kalong, a mangrove islet between Komodo and Rinca where thousands of flying foxes roost. Nobody lands. You watch from the deck.
In August the sun sets at Kalong at 18:00; in January, at 18:27. The bats pour out in one long stream for about half an hour.
Sky note. The bats start about a quarter of an hour after the sun is down. Clouds can hide the colour of the sky but not the bats.
Day two: torchlight up Padar, sunrise at the summit
Padar sunrise, November: 05:31. Boat leaves for shore about 65 minutes earlier. A headtorch helps on the way up.
Allow 25 to 45 minutes to the main viewpoint. Some of the path is loose and steep, which is why grip matters more than anything else on your feet. At the top, three bays lie below you, each with sand of a different colour. Padar has no dragons.
Then a long day on the water. Pink Beach for a snorkel; Komodo Island, where a park ranger leads you on foot and the dragons, being wild, may or may not appear. Taka Makassar, the sandbank, and Manta Point come after. Nobody can promise manta rays, and the current there is strong enough that a life jacket is a good idea. The tide sometimes swaps those last two.
Night falls at anchor, and the sky is yours alone.
Kanawa's shallows, then the pier at noon
Day 3 is an easy last morning. Kanawa Island has shallow coral and white sand, the gentlest swim of the three days. After it the boat turns for Labuan Bajo harbour and ties up at about 12:00; open-trip guests finish between 12:00 and 13:00.
The whole boat for 3D2N is IDR 73,000,000 (≈ USD 4,479). The open trip goes by the cabin, per person with two sharing: IDR 7,100,000 (≈ USD 436) for Deluxe, IDR 7,850,000 (≈ USD 482) for Lily, IDR 8,100,000 (≈ USD 497) for Jasmine. The table puts both side by side.
Either way, we quote the park package with your trip. On the open trip a guide and photo or video documentation are included; on a private charter they are priced on request.
| Guests | per boat | per person |

Compare two guests on the vessel with two seats in a cabin
On the whole boat, two guests pay IDR 73,000,000 (≈ USD 4,479): IDR 36,500,000 (≈ USD 2,239) each. In a Deluxe cabin on the open trip, the same two pay 2 x IDR 7,100,000 (≈ USD 436) between them. The table sets out each figure per person.
For two, the charter is several times dearer. What the difference pays for is easy to list. No other guests. Your own pace, inside the captain's judgement. All six cabins, and a lounge and deck with nobody else in them.
In return, the open trip hands something back: a guide and documentation, neither of which a private charter includes, and a much smaller bill. On 3D2N neither option comes with the beach dinner.

For your flight: pickup hour, return hour, safe ticket
Three times matter for your flights. On day 1 the meeting is 09:00 to 09:30, at Komodo Airport or your hotel in Labuan Bajo. Departure is between 10:00 and 11:00. On day 3 you are back at the harbour at about 12:00.
So choose a flight home that leaves after 15:00 on day 3. The gap covers the harbour, the transfer, and a margin in case wind or tide has made the morning slow. On the way in, land in Labuan Bajo the day before; a delayed flight should never cost you the first morning.
A private charter fixes its times with your date and can be moved around your flight. Send us the flight numbers when you write.
