Five days with room in them: ridge, reef, Rinca and a dinner ashore

Updated 3 November 2026

Komodo 5 days 4 nights on a private phinisi for two adds Rinca with a ranger and a slower pace to the classic route. The whole of Gammara Phinisi costs IDR 135,000,000 (≈ USD 8,282), or IDR 67,500,000 (≈ USD 4,141) each, and the beach dinner is included. The park package is quoted with your dates.

Five days, with Rinca's rangers added to the walks

With five days the usual route can breathe. This sample keeps every stop of the four-day trip and adds Rinca, where you walk behind a park ranger. Treat it as a sample: the weather and the tides make the final order.

Day 1 takes in Kelor, then Manjarite, and ends with the sun going down at Kalong. Day 2: Padar, Pink Beach and Komodo Island. Day 3: Taka Makassar and Manta Point, then dinner on the beach. Day 4: Rinca and Sebayur. Day 5: Kanawa, and the harbour around midday.

Only a private charter runs this long; the open trip never goes beyond 3D2N. We quote the 5D4N park package for your dates, and a guide or photo and video documentation on request.

These stops swap order with tide and wind: Manta Point ⇄ Taka Makassar.

Times are operating patterns, not a timetable. Pickup is the only promise we make by the clock.

Day two, ridge then reef, without a stopwatch

Day 2 starts on Padar. The tender goes ashore about 65 minutes before sunrise, and the main viewpoint is 25 to 45 minutes' climb. Five days means nobody is waiting on the next stop, so you can stay up on the ridge while the colours shift.

Next, Pink Beach: a snorkel over reef just off the sand. The water is calmer and the light softer in the morning, and the pale pink comes from broken fragments of red coral. Komodo Island after that, where a park ranger leads every walk and nobody goes without one. No dragon is ever guaranteed, so count each one you see as luck.

Night comes at anchor, in whichever bay the weather and the captain settle on.

Sky note. Padar first light in August: 06:12. In clear weather the ridge is lit before the water below it.

Day three: sandbank, manta current, dinner ashore

Taka Makassar is a crescent of sand ringed by shallow reef, and it appears only at low tide. The tide therefore decides whether you stand on it or swim alongside. Shade is scarce out there; a hat and reef-safe sunscreen are worth packing. Manta Point is different: a drift snorkel carried along by a strong current.

No one can promise you a manta. If you are not a strong swimmer, wear a life jacket, as the current really does pull. The tide may switch these two around, and the captain makes that call on the day.

In the evening, the beach dinner, which the private fare includes on 4D3N and longer. The crew lay it out. Anything more, such as decoration, a cake or a photographer, we arrange separately and quote first.

Rupiah for five days and four nights, two guests

For 5D4N the whole boat costs IDR 135,000,000 (≈ USD 8,282). Two of you pay the one-to-six band, so IDR 67,500,000 (≈ USD 4,141) each, with nobody else aboard and all six cabins to choose from. Whichever cabin you take, the bill stays the same.

Compared with 4D3N at IDR 100,000,000 (≈ USD 6,135), you are paying for one more day: Rinca with its ranger, and a whole day of slack if the weather turns. Both trips have the beach dinner, so that is not what the fifth day gets you.

The park package for your dates is quoted separately and not shown here. So are a guide and documentation, alcoholic drinks, flights, hotels, insurance and crew tips. Maximum twelve guests. Checked on 3 November 2026.

Day four: Rinca's trail, Sebayur's shallows

On day 4, Rinca is the second island where you walk behind a park ranger. Closed shoes, a hat, water: there is little shade, and the pace is the ranger's rather than the boat's. On the day the ranger picks a short, medium or long trail, and the dragons please themselves.

Sebayur after that. With beaches and reefs close at hand, it makes for easy snorkelling, anything from 45 to 90 minutes afloat if you like. There is no dragon trekking here, so the afternoon belongs to you. Swim, read, take the paddle board out.

This is what the fifth day is for. Take it away and Rinca and Sebayur get crammed into one morning. Keep it and they fill a day between them, followed by an evening at anchor with nothing at all on the list. That, in short, is the case for five days.

Five days, or is four enough?

Four days will do for a couple who want the dinner and a single climb each day. Five suit a couple who want Rinca too, a day in hand for the weather, and long empty hours on deck.

Side by side: 4D3N at IDR 100,000,000 (≈ USD 6,135), 5D4N at IDR 135,000,000 (≈ USD 8,282). The gap pays for a day, a ranger walk on Rinca and some room for the sea to change its mind.

Choosing five days to pack more in misses the point. The reason is to rush less. When the sea turns, that spare day is where the captain moves a stop rather than cutting it. We will say it plainly, though: if all you want is one climb and one dinner, five days is more boat than you need.

Who this boat suits

  • A honeymoon couple who wants the whole boat, with the 1 to 6 guest price written down.
  • Couples who want a king bed and an ocean view on the upper deck.
  • A private trip of 4D3N or longer, with the beach dinner set up by the crew.

Who it does not suit

  • A party of more than 12 guests; a second boat is needed.
  • Anyone who needs a bathtub in the cabin or dependable internet at sea: no cabin has a bathtub, and the local Wi-Fi follows the boat's position, with no promised speed.

When this is the wrong boat

  • You want to share the boat cheaply as one couple. The open trip sells cabins on Monday and Friday; the private price is for the whole boat.
  • You have only one night. The shortest trip is 3D2N.

Setting the five days down in writing

Name 5D4N in your first WhatsApp message, together with your dates, the number of guests and any flight that cannot move. Our reply gives availability and a written quote, item by item, with the park package for your dates as a separate line.

You pay 50 percent to secure it, and the rest 30 days before sailing. Moving the date is free at 30 days or more. We need passport details seven days before boarding, for the park and the harbour. Fly into Labuan Bajo the day before, so the first morning is spent on a boat rather than in a taxi. Once the days are settled, write. If you want them, we will add the moon phase and sunset time for your month.

FAQ

If the weather turns, who decides where we go?

The captain decides, on the day, with the harbour and park rules in mind. The stops can be swapped, and the anchorage can move. We tell you in writing what changed. A refund percentage is not promised for weather at sea, and each case is looked at in writing.

Does the five-day route include the beach dinner too?

The beach dinner comes with every private trip of 4D3N or longer, so 5D4N has it. On the sample it falls on day 3, after Taka Makassar and Manta Point. Decorations, a cake or a photographer are extras, quoted separately.
