Gammara Phinisi
Nine places the boat stops, each at its own hour
Updated 3 November 2026
Komodo National Park stops by private phinisi: Gammara visits eight of the nine on the 3D2N route, from Labuan Bajo harbour back to Labuan Bajo harbour. Sebayur joins from the 4D3N sample. Each stop below has its own page.
Nine stops beneath one sky
Eight of these nine stops sit on the 3D2N route in the 2026 brochure. The ninth, Sebayur, appears on the longer private samples. Manjarite is a passing stop on day 1 and Rinca joins the 5D4N and 6D5N samples. Neither has a page here.
Two of the nine belong to the sky. Kalong closes day 1 at sunset, and Padar opens day 2 at first light. The rest are reefs, a sandbank, a hill and a ranger walk.
- Kelor: day 1, a short steep hill after boarding.
- Kalong: day 1, sunset and the flying foxes, watched from the boat.
- Padar: day 2, climb before sunrise.
- Pink Beach: day 2, morning snorkel in softer light.
- Komodo Island: day 2, the ranger walk.
- Taka Makassar: day 2, the sandbank, when the tide allows.
- Manta Point: day 2, a drift snorkel in a current.
- Kanawa: day 3, the closing morning reef.
- Sebayur: day 3 of the 4D3N sample, a quieter beach and reef.
- Padar before sunrise, step by step
- Pink Beach, pale sand and soft morning light
- Komodo Island, on foot with a ranger
- Manta Point, a drift snorkel with a pull
- Taka Makassar, the sandbank the tide gives
- Kalong at last light, bats from the deck
- Kelor, a short hill to begin with
- Sebayur, a quieter day on the longer routes
- Kanawa, the closing morning on a pale reef
A stop for each day
Day 1 is short. Guests meet at Komodo Airport or their hotel between 09:00 and 09:30, the trip starts between 10:00 and 11:00, and the boat reaches Kelor, then Kalong for sunset. The night is spent at anchor, and where depends on the weather and the captain.
Day 2 carries the most. Padar at sunrise, Pink Beach, the dragon walk on Komodo, then Taka Makassar and Manta Point. It is a full day and the table below shows how each stop asks for legs, swimming or neither.
Day 3 is gentle: a snorkel at Kanawa and the harbour at about 12:00. On the 4D3N sample, Sebayur takes its own day and Kanawa moves to the last morning.
The brochure itself says the route changes with traffic, weather and tides. Stop order is a plan, not a promise.
Choosing stops as a pair
Two stops ask for fit legs: Kelor and Padar, both short climbs on loose, dry paths. Komodo is a walk on flat to gentle ground with a ranger. Pink Beach, Taka Makassar, Kanawa and Sebayur are snorkel stops with mild water. Manta Point is the one that asks for a confident swimmer.
If one of you finds climbs hard, the other can go up Padar while the first stays on deck for the same sunrise from the water. If neither of you swims, three stops are still open to you on foot or from the deck.
We cannot promise a sighting at any stop. Dragons and mantas are wild, clouds can hide a sunrise and the captain can reorder the day. Tell us on WhatsApp which two stops matter most and we will say plainly whether the route you chose keeps them.
