Komodo National Park fee rules for a private charter in 2026, with sources
Updated 3 November 2026
As of 3 November 2026 the foreign entry fee is IDR 250,000 per person per day under PP 36/2024, and visits are capped at 1000 a day from 1 April 2026. Tickets go through the SiORA app. Our park package bundles the ticket with ranger and local levies. No fee rise has been announced.
Three authorities, three kinds of rule
A private charter in Komodo meets three rule-makers. The park office, known as BTNK, sets who can enter and what they pay. The harbour authority in Labuan Bajo rules on whether a boat can leave. On land, the rangers set the terms of each walk.
I checked the reports below between 28 October and 3 November 2026. Every figure comes from a dated report that quotes the authorities, and the source list gives each one. Nothing here is legal advice.
Fees, caps and permits are volatile, so each line carries its date and a reader in 2027 can see how old it is. Where I found no figure, I say so instead of filling the gap.
On a private charter that matters for a simple reason. Park tickets sit outside the boat price, so any rule that shifts a park figure shifts your total too.
Entry tickets, the package and the gap between them
PP 36/2024 sets the park's tariffs as state revenue that is not tax. It replaced an older regulation, and its Komodo rates apply from 30 October 2024, as ANTARA Kupang reported on 26 October 2024. The text sits on the national legal database.
Foreign visitors pay IDR 250,000 each per day, the same on weekdays and holidays. That one ticket also pays for snorkelling, with trekking and wildlife viewing included. Citizens of Indonesia pay IDR 50,000 on a weekday, rising to IDR 75,000 on a holiday. Diving carries its own ticket of 25 thousand rupiah per person per activity. Each day inside the park needs a ticket, so a multi-day charter buys several days.
Our park package is a different thing. It bundles the government ticket with the ranger fee and local levies: 650 thousand rupiah per foreign guest on 3D2N and 750 thousand on 4D3N, while the figure for 5D4N and longer is confirmed in your quote. It is not the government ticket.
On 14 April 2026 the Forestry Minister told parliament a higher foreign fee could be considered, and Floresa reported it on 15 April. No amount or date has been published.
The daily cap and the SiORA ticket
On 14 April 2026 ANTARA reported that BTNK limits visits to 1000 a day, in force since 1 April 2026. ANTARA's English service added on 15 April that the limit covers Padar, Rinca and Komodo and 23 dive sites nearby. The same report counts about 430 thousand visits in 2025, above a carrying capacity of about 366 thousand a year.
Tickets are bought in the park's SiORA app. ANTARA reported on 31 October 2025 that reservation through the app has been mandatory since 1 February 2025 and that payment is not in cash. The same report says some intermediaries did not pass ticket money to the state, so ask for the e-ticket in your name.
The reports I found do not say how the 1000 places are shared between operators, and they do not give a cap for 2027. For a date in the busy months, treat a ticket as something to secure early.
Rangers, permits and hired photographers
A park ranger leads each walk on Komodo and Rinca. Guides that operators published in 2026 agree on this, and they add that the ranger fee is paid per group, not per person. No official ranger tariff appeared in the reports I read, so the amount is in your written quote and not on this page.
Your own phone and camera photos carry no separate park fee in those reports. A hired photographer is a commercial shoot, and ANTARA's 2024 report lists a pre-wedding photo or video session at 3 million rupiah for foreigners. Ask us before booking a photographer. On a private charter a guide and documentation are not in the price, and both are quoted separately.
Photography with a drone is not part of any private charter price. It needs a park permit and a fee of 2 million rupiah per unit per day, according to ANTARA's 2024 report, so ask us before you pack one.
Weather closures and your charter
At sea, the harbour authority, KSOP Class III Labuan Bajo, issues the sailing approval after checking the weather forecast and the vessel. Detik reported on 6 August 2026 that Komodo and Padar were closed to tourist boats until 8 August because the forecast showed winds up to 24 knots and waves up to 2.4 metres. Boats could sail to Rinca only.
A closure is a notice from the authority. A boat owner cannot overrule one, and neither can a guest. The captain decides each day which stops go ahead, and the order of stops can change.
Our replacement-boat guarantee covers a boat that cannot sail because of a breakdown or a port or park order. We provide a boat of the same or higher class on the same date at no extra cost, or a full refund. Refunds are normally transferred within 2 x 24 hours of the conditions being met.
What changes on your dates, if anything
If I were booking a private charter, this is how I would act on each rule.
- Fees: budget for the park package beside the boat price, and ask for the figure for your sailing date in writing. A foreign couple pays 1.3 million rupiah on 3D2N and 1.5 million on 4D3N.
- Cap: assume nothing about a date until tickets for it are confirmed. The park office sets the limit period by period.
- Passports: SiORA wants names and passport numbers. We collect them a week before sailing, and each name must match the document.
- Weather: leave a spare day at each end of the charter. A closed route reorders the stops and leaves your hotel booking alone.
No 2027 tariff or cap has been announced as of 3 November 2026. Treat every figure here as checked on that date only.

FAQ
How much is the Komodo park fee for foreign visitors in 2026?
On 3 November 2026 the fee in force is IDR 250,000 per person per day under PP 36/2024, identical on every day of the week, and it includes snorkelling. Our park package is larger because it also adds the ranger fee and local levies.
Is the park fee included in a private charter price?
No. Park tickets, the ranger fee and local levies come as a separate package per guest, quoted beside the boat price. Unless your written quote says otherwise, you pay the package on top of the boat price, and we confirm the amount for your sailing date.
Do I need a ranger on Komodo and Rinca?
Yes. Guides that operators published in 2026 agree that rangers lead all walks on the two islands. The fee is paid per group. We put the amount in your written quote, because no official ranger tariff appeared in the reports I read.
Is there a limit on visitors per day?
Yes. ANTARA reported that BTNK has limited visits to 1000 a day since 1 April 2026, covering Padar, Rinca, Komodo and 23 dive sites nearby. Tickets are bought in the SiORA app, so we confirm your date and your passport details before you pay.
